A leading education NGO partnered with the Kenyan Ministry of Education to upskill teachers in rural areas on the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). Traditional face-to-face workshops were expensive, logistically complex, and resulted in inconsistent quality across regions. Teachers in remote counties often missed sessions due to travel constraints, and post-training support was virtually non-existent.
ElimuPoint designed a blended learning programme that combined self-paced digital modules with periodic face-to-face mentoring sessions. Our team of instructional designers worked closely with subject matter experts to develop culturally relevant, mobile-first content that teachers could access even in low-bandwidth environments.

Mobile-First Design: All training modules were optimised for smartphone access, recognising that mobile phones are the primary digital device for most rural teachers. Content was designed to work offline, with automatic sync capabilities when connectivity was available.
Microlearning Modules: Complex CBC topics were broken into 10-15 minute micro-modules, allowing teachers to learn at their own pace between classroom sessions. Each module included interactive quizzes, practical exercises, and reflection prompts.
Community of Practice: A built-in discussion forum enabled peer-to-peer learning and mentorship. Teachers shared classroom experiences, lesson plans, and best practices, creating a thriving community that extended far beyond the formal training period.
Analytics Dashboard: Real-time tracking allowed programme managers to monitor progress, identify struggling participants, and provide targeted support where needed.
Within 12 months of launch, the programme exceeded all targets. The 85% completion rate was significantly higher than the 40% average for similar face-to-face programmes.
